EDLD Week 5 Assignment

In my experience, I will demonstrate my reflection at a critical level. In my reflection examples are self - assessment, learn as a learner, lifelong learning skills and implementations in the classroom.  

 Self- Assessment

 I have gained knowledge from the EDLD 5366 assignments. They are parallel to the new knowledge attained with the old knowledge and personal experiences with the assignments were overwhelming. I am not an expert with computers and digital graphics was somewhat difficult but helped me wonder which route to take. I was impressed with the work I have done when creating a personal logo and animation and the teamwork displayed on the team project.  My confidence has elevated in creating graphics. 

 Learn as a Learner

This course allowed me to collaborate and work in a group which was awesome due to the communication and teamwork that was installed to create a great project.  The group assignment was challenging and integrating valuing the importance of each person. The project was a team effort. We participated and responded to each other group’s’ questions. . (Tosh & Wedmuller, pp. 3-4)   In the context of an ePortfolio, course tutors, lecturers, clubs and societies could all have their own weblogs which users could view on their “friends” page.   Students can share information they’ve found or ideas they have on a particular subject, as well as the more social messages which may form a compelling reason for them to use the technology to begin with. (p.4)

 Lifelong Learning Skills

 It is important to continue personal learning while reflection is considered an important aspect of teacher practice.   Writing reflections enhance ones level of understanding themselves and the value of networking. We must utilize information as a learning tool to strengthen my personal learning skills.

 Implementation in the Classroom

What I learned about Web 2.0 tools, implementing the internet into the classroom can be beneficial to students due to giving the students a variety of tools to use for presentations and collaboration in the classroom. Most of the computer classes are going to a paperless classroom.  The use of wiki’s, blogs, and e-portfolio is a great way for students to log their work and help their classwork is more organized.  (Helen C. Barrett) States e-portfolio is “to support reflection that can help students understand their own learning and to provide a richer picture of student work that documents growth over time.” Barton and Collins (1993) stated, “the first and most significant act of portfolio preparation is the decision of the purposes for the portfolio”. They stated, "The portfolio is a laboratory where students construct meaning from their accumulated experience." (Paulson & Paulson, 1991, p.5) They also pointed out that portfolio tell a story:

Collaboration

1.3 Groups will create a google doc that identifies group members, their assignment for the web page, and a group plan on the completion of the group web page. Each person should post summary of his or her contributions to the collaborative document and reflect on knowledge and learning gained. EDLD 5366 Digital Graphics, Animation, and Web Design Assignment 1.2

  
In learning about the basic principles of design I investigated three old texts The Outstanding 15th Century Church Book, The Lisbon Hebrew Bible, and The Book of Kells.  All three books had rich color, intricate detail and beautiful designs. 

    While The Outstanding 15th Century Church Book had an elaborate decorative Old English script that was very hard to read, the other two had very easy to read fonts.   Throughout the books there were richly colored pictures, some with bright eye catching blues and reds some with greens and purples that contrasted well against the white background of the paper.  The green cover of The Lisbon Hebrew Bible set off the gold detailing very nicely.  The pictures in some cases were used to separate the information into sections, subjects and paragraphs.  All of the books followed a repetitive color theme, with a uniform text alignment.

Week 4 discussion and blog

I feel the most important part of action research is having a emphasis on sustainability but trying to reach a consensus on advancement or improvement on all areas of school curriculum. The best ways of implementing action research is to create ideas that involve leadership initiative through research. I like the Force field analysis and feel this can be a good structure or plan to go by when dealing with the technological improvements communication and vision of a school or schools. The situations that arise at schools should be answered decisively through analysis.

 The Delphi method is also a good tool to decipher ways of sustaining improvement and looking futuristically at school needs. This method helps average or rate a group of participants comments and synthesized ideas.
